HOW MUCH ARE WEDDING FLORALS?

Planning a wedding involves so many decisions, but one of the most enchanting elements is undoubtedly the flowers. From the bride's bouquet to the ceremony feature, florals set the tone and elevate the ambiance of the celebration. As a florist, I've often been asked the question: "How much should we spend on wedding flowers?" The answer varies based on several factors, but I'm here to help guide you through the process.

When thinking about how much to spend on your wedding flowers, you need to think of one thing ... IMPACT.

Flowers are a huge part of your wedding. They will be in every photo, every backdrop, and have the ability to elevate the style of your day. When guests walk in to your venue and are greeted by a large, abundant arch, this creates IMPACT and sets the vibe for the rest of your day!

But how much do flowers cost?

There's no right answer when it comes to how much you should spend, this needs to work for you! That's why each quote we offer is completely bespoke to you as a couple.

The average spend for florals is around 10-15% of your overall wedding budget. BUT, If you're a flower lover and want your florals to pack a punch on your day, we recommend around 30% of your overall budget would go towards flowers.

Key Factors Influencing Floral Costs

  1. Wedding Size and Venue:

  • Large Weddings: More guests mean more tables and, consequently, more centrepieces. Larger venues may also require additional floral arrangements to fill the space.

  • Intimate Gatherings: Smaller weddings can often mean a more significant portion of the budget can be spent on high-quality flowers, as fewer arrangements are needed.

  1. Floral Choices:

  • In-Season vs. Out-of-Season: Opting for in-season flowers can significantly reduce costs. For example, peonies are less expensive in the spring when they're in bloom.

  • Exotic Blooms: Flowers like orchids or certain types of roses might be more expensive due to their rarity or import costs.

  1. Design Complexity:

  • Simple Arrangements: Minimalistic designs with fewer flowers can be budget-friendly.

  • Elaborate Designs: Complex arrangements, cascading bouquets, or floral arches will require more flowers and labor, thus increasing costs.

  1. Customisation:

  • Personal Touches: Personalised elements, such as flower crowns, floral chandeliers, or intricate floral installations, can add a unique touch but also add to the budget.

Tips for Maximising Your Floral Budget

  1. Prioritise: Focus on the most impactful areas, such as the bride's bouquet and the ceremony backdrop. Allocate more of your budget to these key elements.

  2. Repurpose Arrangements: Use ceremony flowers for the reception to get the most value out of each arrangement.

  3. Mix and Match: Combine high-end blooms with more affordable flowers to create lush arrangements without breaking the bank.

  4. Trust Your Florist: Share your budget and vision with your florist. A professional can suggest creative solutions and alternatives that align with your financial plan.
